All new patients start with a comprehensive evaluation that typically takes 75-90 minutes. We discuss your health history, diet, and lifestyle, and anything else that may be affecting your health. We often ask about workplace health, social and emotional health, and other “big picture” things in your life.
Many patients send in labs or imaging from their other providers in advance, and we often order more. For example, you can most likely expect us to order a comprehensive thyroid panel where many other providers only order a TSH. These can be ordered from any conventional lab such as Quest or Labcorp and are sometimes covered by insurance. Lab test availability varies by state.
We also order functional medicine type lab tests from alternative labs for a more comprehensive look at hormones or the microbiome. Some examples of functional testing we can order as indicated based off patient history are:
Food sensitivity testing and food allergy testing
Microbiome, stool, and other detailed digestive wellness testing
Environmental toxins like heavy metals (mercury, lead, aluminum, etc)
I make supplement recommendations via Fullscript, where I plug in your prescriptions and they are mailed directly to your home.
I often make recommendations for diet changes as well as stress management techniques, lifestyle changes, and referrals to other healthcare providers like physical therapists or conventional medical specialists.
Follow ups are typically scheduled out 3-4 weeks, and subsequent follow ups are on an as needed basis and depend on individual needs. Some people only see me 3 times, others see me monthly for a year. Schedule a discovery call to see if we would be a good fit to work together.
I offer my full time and attention to support your healing. Many insurance policies cover my services and I operate as an out of network provider. I provide insurance reimbursement forms in states where it applies.
Patients who are eligible are often able to receive reimbursement for my care quickly and easily using the Reimbursify app.
Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company
If you have insurance and will be relying on reimbursement for my care, it may be helpful to call your insurance company and confirm how your benefits will apply. Ask them these questions about your plan:
- Do I have naturopathic coverage?
- Do I have out-of-network benefits?
- What is my co-pay or co-insurance for visits with out-of-network providers?
- Does my plan cover “telemedicine” or “telehealth” visits? If so, ask for and write down the codes that they accept.
- What is my deductible, and how much of it have I met?
Payment and Insurance Policy
Patients pay at the time of service, and then we give you paperwork with standard insurance-industry coding to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
We do not call or intervene with your insurance company. In case your insurance company balks, you will be responsible for taking over the inquiry. Conventional providers have to spend considerable time getting insurance companies to pay them, and I choose to focus only on your care.
Payment Types
A credit card must be kept on file to charge at the time of service. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover as well as any flex spending or health savings accounts.
