Many times I have been asked for supplement recommendations for various conditions. Everyone wants a magic pill, but it does not exist! Supplements can be very helpful when used appropriately and are good quality. Most supplements do not meet the FDA quality standards. Here are some guidelines:
Do not purchase from third party sellers on EBay or Amazon; counterfeit products exist.
Avoid multilevel marketing brands as they tend to have very low dosages, high prices, and exaggerated claims. You should take supplement advice from qualified practitioners, not salespeople.
Stick with reputable retailers like Whole Foods or locally owned health food stores.
Never use big box store brands.
My patients are never required to buy from me, but I want them to get what they are paying for. These are just guidelines to find quality products while shopping.
Schedule an appointment for individualized supplement recommendations.
Purchase prescription quality supplements through me on Fullscript.
Here is my short list of quality supplement brands I approve of. There may be others but these are my favorites. There are more brands that are not available directly to consumers in most places, many are through providers only on Fullscript.
